After an extensive development process interstate with Dancehouse, Critical Path, and STRUT Dance, Metro Arts and Rhiannon Newton present the energetic solo performance Assemblies For One Body.
An entrancing physical performance paired with a ground-shaking sonic installation created by Kynan Tan, Assemblies For One Body opens on Wednesday 25 February and will run for two weeks until Saturday 7 March.
Programmed in the Basement at Metro Arts, the two internationally presented artists have stripped away theatre embellishments focusing on the fascinating simplicity of performer accompanied by sound in this exciting experimental performance.
Oscillating between unconstrained dance and repetitive action, Assemblies for One Body charts the rise and fall of randomly prioritised movements.
Both graduates of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Newton and Tan have been working collaboratively since 2013.
In addition to the two week performance season, Rhiannon Newton will be running Bodied Assemblies, a one week laboratory to give Brisbane artists a more embodied, practice-based experience.
Tickets for Assemblies For One Body and Bodied Assemblies can be booked through the Metro Arts website, or by calling the office directly on 07 3002 7100.
