Paddington small artwork competition
WHERE: Aspire Gallery
WHEN: 4th - 28th February 2015
Entries for Brisbane’s latest art competition petite pieces has closed with over 180 small art pieces.
“We are really excited with the variety and quality of work from emerging and veteran artists.”
“The theme was left open to let the artists express as much creativity as possible, which has turned out great as we have ended up with traditional watercolour and abstract landscapes alongside a satirical Campbell Newman and some meticulously handcrafted flowers.”
Donna Hawkins and Lin Stanton, two art competitors, love how the competition is offering opportunities for artists. “The petite pieces prize is something artists actually want to win because exhibitions are expensive.” Donna said.
“A lot of other competitions offer cash prizes which are good but do not offer any long term opportunities for an artist.”
Local Paddington businesses Decked Café, Francesca’s Flowers, Latrobe Artspace, MGOJ, Paddington News and The Substation have offered prizes and are sponsoring the event. The only limitation put upon the artists was their work had to remain within forty by forty centimetres.
Entries are being shown throughout February at Aspire Gallery with voting closing on the 14th.
